Brotnjo
was first mentioned in the old documents almost
seven centuries ago. This region had very good
road connections
even in the Middle Ages and some important
Roman roads were also passing here.
Although
the Herzegovinian rocks may seem wild and
dangerous to the visitors, the Neretva river
valley, fields and natural beauties make this area
exceptionally attractive in any time of year.

ČITLUK
|
The
town of Čitluk has been developing since
the 30-ies of the 20th century as an
administrative center of the area. Today Čitluk
is a place with secondary and elementary
school and it is also an economic,
transport, sports, cultural and catering
center.
Čitluk,
precisely the whole area of Brotnjo, has
about 15 000 inhabitants and it is one of
rare regions having the number of
inhabitants from the pre-war time. We
believe that further development of this
region will also mean
an
increase in the number of
inhabitants.

Housing
construction has been continuing. Beside the nice family
houses in the center of Čitluk, there are
also new blocks of flats
with modern conveniences.
